906 Often in my 64 years I have endeavored to traverse the Road of Pilgrims Progress, but inevitably found myself mired in the forest of Archaic Language. It was densely wooded, entangled with thick vines known as Unfamiliar Syntax. There was no clear path in the forest, and to make matters worse, it was inhabited by frightful residents who resented my presence. They had the names Mr. Discouragement, Mr. Frustration, Mr. Turn Back, Mr. Despair, and Mr. Shame. Each carried a sharp, two-edged sword. Sadly, each time I attempted to make my way through the forest, I found myself returning, my head hung in shame, to my village of Fallen Short. But then, not perchance, but by introduction offered to me by Lord Providence, I met a fellow pilgrim by the name of Mr. Vermilye. He was a jovial sort, and quite understanding of my plight. He told me of his arduous efforts to cut a path by-passing Archaic Forest, which was smooth, brightly lit, and a joy to traverse. "Will you lead me to it," I asked. "But of course," he replied, with great enthusiasm. "It will afford you a safe and joyous passage, far out of the reach of the ogres you encountered in the dark forest." After leading me there, I began my walk with a brisk pace, savoring each moment of discovery, until finally I had arrived at the destination, clearly marked as "The Conclusion." I sat in the grass, enjoying the sweet sunshine of accomplishment, inspired by those I had met along the way, grateful that Lord Providence had introduced me to Mr. Vermilye, and thankful for his year and a half labor.
