Ebook About
From Cora Kenborn and Catherine Wiltcher comes Corrupt Gods, a brand new arranged marriage mafia duet. A Santiago is a lesson in ruin. A Carrera bleeds for revenge. Thalia Santiago is the daughter of my enemy. A beautiful rebel with a single cause. Impulsive. Fearless. And ripe for her father’s undoing. I recognized her the moment she stepped into my casino. I watched her start the fires that burned her pretty fingers, and then I poured gasoline on the flames. Now she’s in my debt, and her dues are a shiny gold ring and a vow of deception. I’ll bend her. I’ll break her. I’ll turn our mockery of a marriage into a battlefield. And that river of bad blood that flows between our two families? I’ll make it an ocean of hate. *This is book 1 of a new dark romance duet. Tainted Blood, book 2, releases July 7th. **Bad Blood is set in the Santiago and Carrera worlds, but it is not necessary to have read either trilogy beforehand.

Book Bad Blood: A Dark Mafia Romance (Corrupt Gods Duet Book 1) Review :

Whew- this book! To tell you the truth, I didn't 100% know what to expect in this book as far as tropes aside from enemies-to-lovers (my jam!). I was over the moon to discover a forced marriage and a virgin heroine- aka, my catnip! For some reason I can't stay interested in a romance if it doesn't play out like a thriller/action/horror movie, but this one delivers. From the beginning there were attacks, mysteries, and lies.As a longtime Catherine Wiltcher fan, I LOVED getting to "see" Dante Santiago make an appearance. He started my whole obsession with Wiltcher's books. And now with the introduction of piping hot Santi it is clear I need to go back and read the Carrera books by Cora Kenborn. I want more Carrera!I can't get enough of enemies-to-lovers, and boy do Thalia and Santi start as enemies. Not only do they have bad blood from a longstanding family war, but to top it off Thalia is tricked into deploying her card-counting skills at Santi's casino. Delicious angst and drama ensue almost immediately when Santi decides to "detain" Thalia. Via legal matrimony.Oh, honey... open the winda, I'm getting excited over here.Oof- all of the posturing, the alpha males, the fights... there are just too many potential leads in here! Now I'm going to have to cross my fingers and hope we get books for all of these dangled carrots. Because yum.Bad Blood went in another direction toward the end that explained some of the confusing earlier events, and I'm here for it.Disclaimer: I'm writing this review at 1:30am in a sleep-deprived delirious state courtesy of my infant. I have approximately nine minutes to myself each day, and trust me when I say I was flipping this book open and reading for the remaining seven minutes not eaten up by my shower.I'm liking the slower burn for Thalia and Santi. They had some insta-lust, but certainly no insta-love. And thank goodness. I've been known to love food items almost instantly. Also puppies and babies. But a full-grown man? Nah. So thank you, authors, for not writing in insta-love!There's a lot to love here with getting to see the next generation of beloved existing characters as well some cameos from said beloved characters, the steamy times, and the drama.I can't wait for the second book to see how this all shakes out! And also, hopefully, more Dante. Obviously.
So I am a huge fan of Catherine Wiltcher’s Santiago Trilogy. Dante was the most possessive hero that I’ve ever read so when I was faced with reading his daughter’s story I was a bit worried .I shouldn’t have been because it was fantastic . Thalia was a rebellious little princess. She didn’t like what her father did by running a cartel but she was loyal to her family . She would do anything to protect them .When she’s caught counting cards in a Carrera Casino she’s in between a rock and a hard place. The Carrera’s and Santiago’s have had a 20 year cartelwar going on. They are her father’s biggest rival .I really loved Thalia and Santi. They were second generation cartel kids who were bornInto the war . That didn’t change that they were enemies or the attraction between the two . The chemistry between the two was hot!So I had one little pet peeve and it’s not a big deal but it drove me crazy . As I was reading Thalia was called a “Santiago” with disgust multiple times , like a lot of times. It was said to emphasize that she was the enemy but the hero’s name name was “Santi.” Why in the heck would these wonderful authors name the hero almost the same name as the heroines’s family who is their rival? Santiago and Santi? Drove me nuts !
